05/28/2003: Opening of the Walk of Stars on the Olympic lake by Howard Carpendale
Howie and the Tiger will stay till eternity in the Olympic Park. They were the first stars to dip their hands and feet in cement. There's a bit of Hollywood behind this as the Olympic Park Munich would like to use the new "Munich Olympic Walk of Stars" to pay tribute to famous personalities for their sports successes or artistic contributions..
From now on, hand and feet imprints in fresh cement of national and international personalities in show business and in sport are to become yet another highlight for visitors of the Olympic Park.
Olympic Park managing director Wilfrid Spronk paid tribute to the entertainer Howard Carpendale for his career over the last 35 years.
South African at birth, he has inspired tens of thousands of fans with his concerts in the Olympic hall over the last 15 years.
Carpendale, one of the best known and most successful singers in German-speaking countries, was set in the Munich Olympic Walk of Stars on 28 May 2003. His numerous hits can be found on more than 25 million records.
This new walk (à la Walk of Fame) with hand and foot imprints of other national and international top stars who have celebrated their successes in the Olympic Park was opened at the Olympic lake. And Howie made the start.
