Joachim Fuchsberger, the legendary voice of the summer Olympic Games in 1972, has immortalized himself in the Olympic Park in Munich. His work began in the speaker booth almost 32 years ago to the day and the weather was similarly good.

The 26 August 1972 was the big day. The XX Olympic Games were opened in the Munich Olympic stadium. As the stadium speaker, Joachim Fuchsberger, then 45, guided the audience excellently through the two and a half hours of the opening ceremony.

Around a billion television viewers enjoyed a cheerful and colourful show from the Bavarian capital with Blacky Fuchsberger, who was moved but in the best of moods.

Even today, the actor, who has appeared in more than 60 films, goes into raptures when he remembers the entry of the 121 nations, 8,000 athletes and 80,000 spectators into the Olympic stadium.
