Olympic Hall

Die Olympiahalle

The second biggest venue of the Olympic Park has been, like the Olympic Stadium next-door, a huge location for sports and culture since the Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic Hall is an outstanding exemplar for the successful subsequent use of the venues after 1972 up till now.

With a capacity of up to 15 500 spectators Munich’s biggest indoor hall is a constant location for the concerts of international top-acts in pop and rock, classic and jazz, musical and entertainment. The listing of famous world stars acting in the Olympic Hall is like a Who is Who of the music business. But, of course, also many thrilling high-class sport events cause a sell-out crowd at the Olympic Hall.

World Championships in Figure Skating and Ice Hockey have taken place here as well as the final stage of the European Basketball Championship in 1993 with Germany surprisingly gaining the title. Thrilling tennis matches games in the Davis Cup and the Compaq Grand Slam Cup or breathtaking boxing fights featuring Muhammad Ali or Henry Maske. Adding to that handball and motocross, judo and formation dancing, gymnastics and volleyball: Hardly a sports that has not been staged in the Olympic Hall. More than four decades after the Olympic Summer Games there are still so many sport events on a world class level taking place here. Just take the “Munich Indoors”, the international equestrian event that has found its home in the Olympic Hall since 1998, being scheduled at the end of every year and marking the final stage of the famous “Riders Tour”. The legendary Olympic Hall is also venue of some matches of Munich’s professional Ice Hockey Team EHC Red Bull during their season in the top flight league DEL.

But besides that it has also been provided a phenomenal wide spectrum in Show and Entertainment. From Frank Sinatra to Helene Fischer, from André Rieu to Die Ärzte, from the alpine folk music show Musikantenstadl to the heavy metal heroes of Metallica.

Easy listening and Jazz, Pop and Rock – in the Olympic Hall there is just everything.

Attention Emission Zone – Park harp free!

The Middle Ring itself is not a green zone. Thus, there is for visitors to the Olympia Park the opportunity to drive directly from the central ring (Landshuterallee) Sapporobogen on the harp in the Park – without environmental badge.
