The Munich Olympic Park Company Profile Concert Location

01.01.2012 - Olympiapark München GmbH

An international event centre, a sports and leisure park and a tourist attraction of world-wide renown – this is the Munich Olympic Park. Until the end of 2012, the venue of the 1972 Olympic Games with its still unique architecture registered a total of about 190 million visitors, out of which 108 million attended the 11,700 music, cultural, sports and commercial events which took place during this time.

Concerts with pop, rock and classic stars as well as 32 world, 12 European and 100 German championships and many more important sport events, fairs, conferences and exhibitions of the most different kind fill the Park's chronicle since the 1972 Olympic Games. With this unique concentration and combination of different event and leisure venues and their offers, the Munich Olympic Park has become one of the most important centres of its kind. Furthermore, beyond its international relevance as an event and leisure centre, the Olympic Park represents an important place for musical events and Open Air concerts. With a maximum capacity of 75,000 for the Olympic Stadium and about 15,500 for the Olympic Hall, these two locations are the biggest event facilities in Munich and its surroundings. So the Munich Olympic Park is a very important place for the national and international concert business. In 2011 a new venue was added with the Small Olympic Hall with a capacity of 3,500 for smaller concerts. The Olympic stadium has been used with enthusiasm to enjoy great open-air festivals. Guests on stage have included f.e. Tina Turner, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, U2 and Coldplay. By the way, the Olympic stadium celebrated its open-air premiere with the appearance of The Rolling Stones in 1982. In 2006  six open air shows took place in the Olympic Stadium - still the record of one year, it was the year when Robbie Williams marked a unique record with three sold out concerts within three days in a row and over 210.000 spectators! In 2012 the Olympic Park Munich expects again up to six Open Air concerts in the Olympic Stadium. The Olympic hall has as many faces as its events. But one of the most important line of business are the music events: Pop, Rock, Musical and Classic.  The Olympic hall has seen countless numbers of world stars and new ones come every year. The voices of Lionel Richie, George Michael or Jennifer Lopez can be heard amplified by the highly sophisticated control desk. With thundering applause Munich's young people pay tribute to their cult stars like Rihanna and Justin Bieber. Its fascinating technical design, sophisticated logistics and perfect organization are what make the Olympic hall in Munich so popular internationally. And there are only a few sites that can present so many music stars to their public with such technical ease in such an attractive framework.
