Deep Purple

„1 More Time“ Tour 2024

Olympic Hall

They are indestructible: even after more than five decades, Deep Purple show no signs of tiring. The rock legends around frontman Ian Gillan and drummer Ian Paice will be back on the road again this year, delighting their fans in the Olympic Hall on 23 October. Does "1 More Time", the title of the tour, indicate that the hard rock heroes will be performing one last time?

The band has a very special history with the Olympic Park. Their performance on 21 January 1973 was the first rock concert in the Olympic Hall a good four months after the end of the Summer Games. Deep Purple have played a total of 14 gigs here over the past 50 years, and now they are returning once again under the tent roof. And just like in 1973, they will once again perform their great classic on stage, which has long since found a place of honour in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame and which, according to a survey in the United States, was once voted the most famous piece of music after the US national anthem: "Smoke on the Water".

In place of Steve Morse, who left the band in 2022 to look after his seriously ill wife, Simon McBride is now providing the hard riffs on guitar for the first time in Munich: an Irishman born in 1979, who was born when the band had already released ten studio albums, thus significantly lowering the average age of the team. Also back are singer Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Don Airey and, of course, drummer Ian Paice, who will once again be working the drums according to all the rules of the art of rock. Just like back in January 73.
