06/01/2003: On Sunday the Munich Olympic Walk of Stars and the city of Munich received a very important visitor: His Holiness the XIV. Dalai Lama

The spiritual leader of the Tibetans delivered a peace message to the world and the 7-8 million visitors who visit the park every year and he wrote it down on a parchment scroll in the presence of Lord Mayor Christian Ude.

A sand stone which was blessed by His Holiness, will guard the message for eternity in its centre. With its weight of 1.3. tonnes, a height of one metre and a width of 80x80 centimetres, it is also a special attraction - not just because of its gold-plated surface.

The message is chiselled into the stone so that all visitors can read it and thus experience a little peace and quiet. The stone has already become a pilgrimage site for numerous people, in particular Buddhists, who cherish His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama and his wonderful charisma.

The engraved peace message is as follows:

"All beings strive towards happiness and peace. We can achieve this aim on this planet if we develop love and compassion in our hearts.

I pray that every one of us strengthens his stream of awareness by a loving and compassionate attitude towards all living beings.

The Buddhist monk Tenzin Gyatso

XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet
