Depeche Mode

It was high time: more than 35 years after their first concert in the Olympic Park, Martin Gore and Dave Gahan were finally allowed to immortalise themselves on the Munich Olympic Walk of Stars in June 2023 - and in doing so, caused a novelty.

In 1987 Depeche Mode played in the Olympic Hall for the first time, now the probably most legendary synth-pop band of the eighties came to the park for the twelfth time: After eight performances in the Olympic Hall, Gore and Gahan performed under the tent roof in the Olympic Stadium for the fourth time after 2009, 2013 and 2017. Shortly before their much-acclaimed open air, which was surrounded by an imposing thunderstorm, Gore and Gahan took some good-humoured time to make their entry in the liquid concrete, leaving the abbreviation "DM" and - somewhat cryptically - their initials with a wooden pen. The duo were the first artists ever to do without an imprint of their hands - something that had not been done in the 20 years of the Munich Walk of Stars. But Gore and Gahan have always been good for surprises...
