Summer Nights Dream 2018

"A Traum“ – fireworks, celebration, amazement and enjoyment

With a unique open air program of live music, art events and culinary delights, the new Summer Night’s Dream invites visitors to stroll, celebrate and gaze in wonder and enjoyment. Three open-air stages, light installations, diverse food stalls and not least, a fireworks display to give you goose bumps transform the Summer Night’s Dream into a festival for all the senses.

Of course, the soundtrack for such an event must be suitable for dreaming. With acts such as Clueso, OMD, Metronomy, Pho Queue and the HyTop Djs, this year’s Summer Night’s Dream more than meets the requirement and at the same time demonstrates the variety of musical offerings visitors can expect. Coubertin Stage OMD British new wave legends Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark (OMD) returned to the stage back in 2007, and a new studio album ("History of Modern") followed three years later. For several months now they have been touring with new drummer Stuart Kershaw in support of their latest and thirteenth album, "The Punishment of Luxury", inspiring new and old fans around the world. The new album is more electronic than previous releases, a compilation of synth-pop with the usual craftsmanship – a step out of the usual comfort zone without losing their distinct identity. "It's almost like we're teenagers again after all these years," says OMD founder Andy McCluskey, "We just do what we want and no record label can tell us what to do or not to do."   Clueso The exceptional Erfurt artist Clueso is no longer a newcomer: he already appeared on stage with Udo Lindenberg, Herbert Grönemeyer and the Fantastischen Vier. Meanwhile, he has his own record label and his name has become an indispensable part of the German music scene. His newest studio album, "Neuanfang" occupied the number one slot on the German charts for weeks in 2016, and its best-known songs, such as "Achterbahn", are heard up and down the radio. His moving, original lyrics stand out from the crowd, both humorous and thoughtful in an unobtrusive way. His music exudes an inner peace that transfers itself to the listener. With the album "Neuanfang", Clueso marked a new chapter in his career, producing an album on which the songwriter in his usual sensitive and original manner as well as alive and spontaneously questions himself as well as the entire music business.   Peninsula Stage   Metronomy British synth-pop of the highest order: since their 1999 debut album "Pip Paine (Pay the £ 5000 You Owe)" by the then 16-year-old founder Joseph Mount, Metronomy have attracted a dedicated following. With their follow-up "Nights Out", Metronomy elevated themselves to the top tier of British bands – and with their third album "The English Riviera" and the subsequent "Love Letters" they also achieved a well-deserved commercial breakthrough – casual, danceable songs such as "The Look" , "The Bay", "Aquarius" can be heard until today on the dance floor. The band’s most recent studio release, "Summer 08" was released in July 2016. Metronomy unleash the groove-monster – we are happy to finally welcome them after a long interval back onstage in Munich to swing along to their hits in the audience!   HyTop DJ’s For five years now, Munich-based DJs Benjamin Röder & Manuel Kim have brought their extraordinary open-air party series HYTOP to unprecedented spaces around Munich (i.e. the rooftop terrace of the Deutsches Museum, the Olympic Stadium). The foundation of their success is the community around these events, assembled exclusively by word-of-mouth recommendation in a familiar, open atmosphere.   Pho Queue The musical journey of Pho Queue began in the queue of a Vietnamese restaurant in Munich. Inspired by the taste of “Pho”, the traditional Vietnamese soup, Felix Kirner and Adriano Prestel went into the studio. From that point onwards, the ritual has been repeated every week: eat Pho and make music. Many plates of soup later, Felix’s brother Ferdinand also became a permanent member of the band. The result: a catchy and new combination of electronic music and soulful vocals. A dance bar with or without soup.   Radio Gong 96.3 Stage Munich Indie-pop band Cosby stands out in particular: original Munich Electropop is coming to the Olympic Park! Great for dancing, with an individual sound and refreshingly down to earth. Highly praised by the media and with over 3 million streams on Spotify – what a headliner for our Radio Gong 96.3 stage!   Gong 96.3 Moderator Kathie Kleff plays together with her band colleague Thorsten Nathan the top current hits unplugged. Nathan & Kleff have already appeared onstage with Chris DeBurgh, Lena and Sunrise Avenue. The duo has been making music together since 2001, and during this time both have also published various CDs as solo artists.   The artists Tina Naderer and Sebastián Millepied are known from the TV program “The Voice of Germany”. Sebastián’s sound is a mix of pop ballads with soul and a touch of gospel. Appearing on The Voice in 2017, Tina Naderer was able to win over the famous jury with her rendition of the song “Hold Back The River” by James Bay. Today, with her raspy voice, Tina sings old classics and very personal numbers.   And with the “Minga Outbacks” as well as another band emerging as a winner in the new season of the Gong 96.3 S-Bahn Casting, the station brings yet more Munich talents to the stage. The “Minga Outbacks” formed in 2017 for the S-Bahn Casting of Radio Gong 96.3 and went on to win the contest. More information can be found at  www.sommernachtstraum.de
