Start of presales for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on 1st January 2012

18.10.2011 - Olympiapark München GmbH

World cup with first-class sport and even more activities for visitors The 1st of January 2012 will be another great day! At the 200 metre-long slalom course on the Olympiaberg, the best skiers in the overall world cup will be meeting up for a huge showdown in the Olympiapark. The first official Audi FIS Ski World Cup on the Olympiaberg was a tremendous success. 25,000 visitors flocked to the Olympic grounds at the start of the year. The exciting flood-lit battles in which women competed against women and men competed against men thrilled the spectators, as did the fantastic supporting programme. And the excitement continues on New Year's Day 2012, but this time with an even bigger array of activities: not only will there be the World Cup event highlights such as the thrilling activities areas at the sponsor's market and the culinary delights in the food area, but there's also a whole raft of hands-on activities in the third Winter Sports Festival (30.12.2011 - 01.01.2012) for skiing enthusiasts to get involved with! Pre-sales for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup have now commenced. Although everyone can feel like a champion at the Winter Sports Festival, the parallel slalom on the Olympiaberg will produce only one out of the 15 best women and 15 best men in the overall World Cup qualifiers, plus one male and one female German starter via a wildcard. And that will be decided once the final remaining athletes have completed the finals in the elimination round. The first to cross the finish line will receive 100 valuable World Cup points - last winters winners were Maria Pietilä-Holmner from Sweden and Ivica Kostelić from Croatia. So the thrills will continue yet again right down to the last millisecond! BAYERN 3 will also be coming along to the seconds parallel slalom on the Olympiaberg - live and up close. Action, fun and the very best in entertainment are guaranteed! The cry of "to the pistes!" isn't one aimed solely at the skiers at this second Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Visitors can look forward not only to high-calibre sport that weekend, but also an even bigger variety of background events, because from the 30th of December 2011 to the 1st of January 2012, the 3rd Winter Sports Festival is being held in the Olympiapark. Very much inspired by the motto of "Join in and experience winter sports for yourself", visitors can revel in trying out and watching fascinating winter sports on ice and snow. On New Year's Day 2012, the two winter events will become one. So anyone who buys a ticket for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup will be able to experience not only the crème de la crème of winter sports, but will also be able to get involved with all the fun of the Winter Sports Festival!
