Since its release in 1977, “Thank You for the Music” has come to symbolise, more than almost any other track, the emotional bond between ABBA and their audience. It is precisely this feeling that lies at the heart of the 2027 tour. Together with the fans, a musical declaration of love is created for the musical legacy of the Swedish pop icons – a tribute to the melodies that have shaped generations and continue to inspire today. As the world’s largest tribute production, Abbamania The Show brings the unforgettable hits back to the stage and makes the audience part of this special anniversary.
“Thank You for the Music” was written in rather unusual circumstances: Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus composed it in 1977 as part of the mini-musical “The Girl with the Golden Hair”, which was performed on a world tour that same year. Originally conceived as a tongue-in-cheek, musical-style number, the song was part of a short stage story about the rise and self-doubt of a young singer. With its grand melody, opulent arrangements and Agnetha Fältskog’s expressive voice, the track became a central part of the band’s artistic legacy.
In 2027, Abbamania The Show continues to offer the chance to sing along, dance and experience the magic of ABBA together. Accompanied by the Symphonic Rock Orchestra, the ABBAMANIA band and outstanding singers, the unmistakable atmosphere of the 1970s and 80s is brought impressively to life. Authentic costumes, rousing performances and a spectacular light and stage show create the perfect setting not just to listen to ABBA’s music, but to celebrate it together. Alongside the anniversary anthem “Thank You for the Music”, fans can look forward to unforgettable classics such as “Dancing Queen”, “Mamma Mia”, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”, “SOS” and “The Winner Takes It All”, as well as selected tracks from the hit album Voyage. Abbamania The Show is thus entirely dedicated to a shared message: thank you for the music and for decades of unforgettable moments that unite ABBA enthusiasts all over the world.
