Just recently, the industry magazine Pollstar named him one of the most successful live musicians of the 21st century. In the ranking of bands and artists with the highest-selling tour tickets since 2001, Rieu came 14th with more than 11.5 million attendees. In terms of the number of performances alone, he even took first place with 1,700 concerts: that works out at an average of just under 70 concerts a year in front of more than 450,000 people.
Given his upcoming tour plans, André Rieu seems to have no intention whatsoever of relinquishing the top spot any time soon – quite the contrary. If anything, he is set to extend his lead. And so the Dutch ‘King of the Waltz’ will return to the Olympic Hall in 2027, with a musical medley of opera hits and musical numbers, film scores, pop hits and evergreens – and, of course, a tribute to Johann Strauss, whose pieces have once again propelled him to number one in the classical charts in many countries on his latest album. Fans can look forward to a wonderful stage production with magnificent costumes and atmospheric lighting effects – and, as always, to a lively evening full of light-heartedness and great emotion.
