Andre Rieu

The big birthday tour 2020

Hardly any other world-famous star comes close to receiving the kind of worldwide adulation from fans of every age group as does André Rieu. It’s now over thirty years that the charismatic Dutch violinist and conductor has been touring the world with his orchestra!

Now he has a special surprise for his German fans as he embarks on a large-scale tour of Germany in January, following his 70th birthday on 1st October. His fans have 16 celebratory, romantic concert evenings to look forward to, with a special programme consisting of his best music from films, musicals, operas without forgetting his signature waltzes. As André Rieu puts it: "I’m really looking forward to this very special tour while celebrating my birthday with fans all across Germany. This tour means a lot to me and my orchestra. Playing live in Germany, where my career started so many years ago, is like coming home. I invite everyone to come and share a magic, unforgettable evening with us". André Rieu firmly believes that classical music doesn’t only serve an elite audience, but is for everyone. As the New York Times characterises him, the "Maestro of the Masses" will be accompanied by his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra (the largest private orchestra in the world). On his Birthday Tour of Germany, he’ll backed up by his choir, international sopranos and, of course, the Platinum Tenors.
