Kerstin Ott

For a long time, Kerstin Ott had not believed she would one day become a successful singer. As a primary school pupil, she sang in Rolf Zuckowski’s children’s choir, but later failed to make the cut in a talent contest at a village disco. On top of that, she went through some difficult personal times during her youth. It did not look as though she was headed for a glittering career as an artist.

Nor did it look that way in 2005, when she wrote the song ‘Die immer lacht’ in just five minutes at her kitchen table – a song she dedicated to a friend who was ill and uploaded to YouTube. The track lay largely unnoticed online for ten years until the DJ duo Stereoact discovered it and released a remix in collaboration with Kerstin Ott. For Ott, it was her big breakthrough. “Die immer lacht” reached number 2 in the charts, became a massive hit and, amongst other things, the stadium anthem for Hertha BSC. Her debut album “Herzbewohner” also became a bestseller, as did her subsequent albums “Mut zur Katastrophe”, “Ich muss dir was sagen”, “Nachts sind alle Katzen grau” and “Für immer dich”. Free from any airs and graces, this authentic and down-to-earth artist will be performing at the Olympic Hall on 16 March 2028 as part of her “Herzen sind dumm” tour.
