Outdoor sports festival

Even the inaugural edition of the Outdoor Sports Festival was an overwhelming success. On 16 October 2016, thousands of people flocked to the Olympic Park – for an event that had never before been held in this form. Visitors were able to try out more than 50 different sports and activities on that occasion. Since then, the event has blossomed into a firm fixture, a true autumn classic. This year, on 27 September, between 10 am and 6 pm, more than 60 sports will be drawing crowds to the park. As always, there’s a colourful array of activities offering a variety of challenges, from cricket to pickleball, from snakeboarding to biathlon. On the grassy terraces between Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz and Olympiasee, mountain bikers can let off steam on three different courses with varying levels of difficulty; workshops in yoga, qigong and Zumba are on offer; and, as at the MASH action sports festival, there will be a dance battle at the Theatron. New additions to the programme include hang-gliding and footvolley. The Sayaq Adventure Tower – the new climbing attraction on the east side of the Olympic Stadium – is also a venue; here, you can win free slots for an adrenaline rush at lofty heights.

And, of course, the theme of inclusion is once again playing a major role this year in the activities organised by the Bavarian Association for Disabled and Rehabilitation Sport. There are also important tips on which sports, and to what extent, can help as a preventative measure or when living with cancer. Numerous clubs, associations and institutions are putting on eight hours packed with sport, fun and action – a programme fit for the occasion to mark a wonderful birthday celebration.
