Discover the Olympic Park with guided tours

04.04.2006 - Olympiapark München GmbH

The summer season has started in the Olympic Park! Right now, there is once again plenty to discover and the Visitors’ Service has just the right offer: Daily guided tours through the world-famous facilities. Specially trained tour guides tell the visitors about all the interesting features of the park – from the Olympiad to the present day, from the Architec Tour to the Roof Climb tour. The most popular tour in the programme is the Roof Climb that sets off from the north ticket office daily at 2:30 p.m. (registration necessary). Equipped as for an exhibition, the participants depart via the northern stand, along the world famous panelled roof and up to one of the pylons to which the tent roof is attached. The panorama is breathtaking! The Roof Climb is an unforgettable event for a small group (up to max. 15 people). The participants stand up to 50 metres above the hallowed turf of the Olympic Stadium and experience the fascinating architecture up close and personally. In addition, the Olympic roof climbers enjoy a superb view over the Park, the roofs and towers of Munich and even as far as the Alps – weather permitting. High above the pitch, experienced Olympic Park tour guides provide a wealth of interesting information about the architecture and the history of the Olympic facilities. In advance, participants will have seen a film about the erection of the Olympic roof at “Base Camp” in the catacombs of the Olympic Stadium, and will also have received instruction in the safety regulations. Anyone aged ten and over can participate in the Roof Climb, providing they have suitable clothing with them (sports shoes, no leather soles!). The Olympic Park provides the safety equipment. The tour lasts 120 minutes. We regret that tours are cancelled on event days and in bad weather. Prices of the Roof Climb: Adults 25 €; children, schoolchildren (minimum age 10 years) and students 20 €; on weekends, public holidays and during the Easter, Whitsun, summer and autumn holidays: Adults 30 €; children, schoolchildren (minimum age 10 years) and students 20 €. And there's a variant with a special kick: the abseiling tour. Whereas the participants on the “normal” roof climbing tour merely gaze down, the particularly courageous participants take a quicker route: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m., they descend 40 metres down by rope from the edge of the tent roof into the arena of the Olympic Stadium. This thrill costs 40 € for adults and 30 € for young people, schoolchildren and students. A must for all football fans in the World Cup year: The daily stadium tour through the Olympic Stadium at 11 a.m. A peep into the changing rooms (where the World Cup-winning team built around Franz Beckenbauer celebrated in 1974), a visit to the VIP area and shooting goals in the wall in the arena of the Olympic Stadium bring football history to life. The meeting point for the one-hour guided tour is at the north ticket office of the Olympic Stadium. The tour costs 5 € for adults, 3.50 € for young people, schoolchildren and students with a discounted rate (4.50 or 3 €) for groups of 50 or more. Olympic worlds can be discovered on a daily basis on the adventure tour at 2 p.m. Travelling on the park’s railway, participants depart from the information pavilion in front of the Olympic Ice Arena right across the Olympic Park to the Olympic Stadium where many a closed door will be opened to them, such as the former changing rooms of FC Bayern München. Further secrets will be revealed during the subsequent tour of the Olympic Hall and the technical area of the Olympic Swimming Pool. At the same time, the visitors will learn a lot about stars and events in the Olympic Park during the 90 minute experience. The adventure tour is open to adults at a price of 7 €, while the price for a peep behind the scenes of Europe’s biggest sport and leisure park is 5 € for young people, schoolchildren and students. Groups of 20 people or more pay 6 € per person and the family ticket is available for 17.50 €. The visitors' service programme also includes: The Architek tour and the sightseeing tour that can be booked in advance.
