Great entertainment at the Germany Cup 2013

Fantastic programme of activities and first-class ice hokey in the "new" Olympic Ice Stadium. The programme of activities has been prepared, and fans can look forward to a few exciting developments both on and off the ice next weekend in the Olympic Ice Stadium. On Friday and Sunday, the anthems will be sung live at  Germany's matches. In its match against Switzerland on Friday, Julia Haug will sing both anthems live, and in the match between the USA on Sunday, Steffi Schaller from Radio Arabella will be performing the national anthems. Anyone who wants to get onto the ice themselves will have the opportunity to do so at the first match on Friday between the USA and Slovakia (4.30 p.m.). Six visitors who will be selected during the first third-break will dribble through a course and show off their talent with a puck and stick. Supported by stadium announcer Marcus Haider, they;re sure to be cheered on by the audience ... And during the match between Germany and Switzerland (8 p.m.) there will be (Ai)R Hockey during the second third-break. Who doesn't remember the first legendary video game "Pong" from the 1970s? The game will be brought to the ice in the Olympic Ice Stadium with a projector and the two players from the audience will need to move around on the ice to bounce the projected ball back to their opponent. The major match days for visitors are therefore Friday and Sunday. Younger ice hockey fans will get a treat during the taster training sessions by EHC Red Bull Munich in the Olympic Ice Stadium on Sunday at 11 a.m. Later, at around 4 p.m. there will even be a show match for the youngsters in front of a "big" audience. On all of the match days, the spectators will be kept highly entertained by Urmel and the Cheerleaders on the ice, but there's also plenty to do away from the rink. New this year is the 750-square-metre visitors' tent in front of the Olympic Ice Sports Centre. This is where ice hockey fans will have the opportunity to visit the various stands run by sponsors from BMW and Sandoz to Lotto, with lots of things to join in with and a children's corner available. Radio Arabella will also be there, with a DJ and presenter Klaus Schwaiger, a Talk Forum and other activities providing entertainment. The new tent will also provide seating opportunities and food and drink, allowing visitors to bridge the big gap between matches in particular. "During the Germany Cup, there's not only a lot going on actually on the ice, but there's also plenty of entertainment available off it," says Olympic Park boss Ralph Huber. Fans can also look forward to top international teams and a unique atmosphere in the Olympic Ice Sports Centre. EHC Red Bull Munich's home arena has been completely revamped especially for the new season: new seats, new video cubes, a new VIP area and a new sound system will all ensure even greater enjoyment. So ice hockey will be even more fun! From a sporting perspective, the national ice hockey team is working on "Mission Title Defence". Trainer Pat Cortina has named 28 professionals for the Germany Cup between the 8th and 10th of November in Munich's Olympic Ice Stadium. Last year, the national team took victory in the hard-fought Four Nations Tournament. Cortina is primarily relying on experienced players to take the team to victory this year. One particular treat for Germany's ice hockey fans will be the national team's matches versus Vice-World Champions Switzerland (08.11./8 p.m.), Slovakia (09.11./4.15 p.m.) and the USA (10.11./4.45 p.m.), which will be broadcast live on SPORT1. "We want to follow on from the achievements of the last World Cup. Our goal is to win the Germany Cup again, even though our goal may be a very ambitious one," explained Pat Cortina. Alongside the old hands, young players from the German Ice Hockey League such as Torsten Ankert (Cologne Sharks) will also be trying their luck. The only newcomer to the team is Daryl Boyle (Augsburg Panthers). "I'm absolutely delighted to have been named, and I'll do my very best to earn my place with excellent performance," said the defence specialist.
