24 days packed with summer moments in the Olympic Park

Our programme for the summer festival from 31 July to 23 August

Popular classics, 4 themed weekends and plenty of hands-on activities

Bavaria & Culture Weekend

31 July – 2 August

The summer festival kicks off with the ‘Bavaria & Culture’ weekend, featuring a grand opening on 31 July.

On Sunday, the farmers’ market invites visitors to stroll around and enjoy regional delicacies and arts and crafts. A traditional parade featuring historic brewery carriages and dance groups brings the programme to a festive close.

We’re also delighted to welcome a small craft village featuring guilds from the healthcare sector, free health checks and more.

Our tip:

Dachshund Day on 2 August

This Sunday, the popular Dachshund Day will put the world on four paws in the spotlight: an exciting dog obstacle course, a group walk with dachshunds at 16:00 pm and various exhibition stands promise to be a real highlight for animal lovers.

Selfmade & Crafts Weekend

7–9 August

Creative types and DIY enthusiasts are in for a real treat this weekend. Numerous stalls will be showcasing artfully crafted, unique pieces – from delicate jewellery to handcrafted wooden designs, textile art and more. Visitors can also get creative themselves in workshops and try their hand at techniques such as pottery, felting or perfume-making.

The highlights:

Water Lantern Festival on 7 and 8 August

Inspired by the Thai Festival of Lights, hundreds of water lanterns transform the Olympiasee into a breathtaking sea of lights, creating magical moments and a unique open-air atmosphere. Anyone wishing to take part can purchase a festival kit via the website.

Treasure Hunt on 8 August

The popular influencer flea market at the Olympiahalle is back for its second edition. Here you’ll find unique finds, vintage treasures and the favourite items of Munich’s creators. Admission is by ticket only. Afterwards, the Casa Loca Sundowner Festival at the Bar du Soleil invites you to round off the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.

Youth Day on 12 August

On Youth Day, a mobile youth club will be taking place on the peninsula in collaboration with the District Youth Association. There will be a range of free hands-on activities on offer, such as a basketball tournament.

Grand fireworks show on 12 August

And don’t miss this: on 12 August, spectacular fireworks will light up the sky above the Olympic Park. Experience some sparkling moments in a unique atmosphere.

Note: If the fireworks cannot go ahead due to the weather, the alternative date is 13 August.

Gaming & Kids Weekend

14–16 August

This weekend is all about gaming! From console stations and the Nintendo Gaming Cube to arcade machines and VR experiences, right through to traditional classics such as card and board games – the varied programme offers entertainment for all ages and tastes.

And if you’ve always wanted to give baseball a go, now’s your chance. The Disciples Baseball Club invites you to discover the sport and have a go at your first swings and throws under expert guidance.

Clean Up Munich on 16 August

Let’s work together for a cleaner Munich! At the children’s clean-up event from 16:00 pm to 17:00 pm, organised by CleanupMünchen, we aim to raise awareness among participating children and their carers about the problem of (even the smallest) litter in our city through hands-on learning, and to highlight practical ways they can take action.

Body & Mind Weekend

21–23 August

This weekend, the summer festival is all about health and exercise. Whether it’s fitness sessions, baseball or dance workshops – the ‘Join In’ stage is open to everyone and offers free classes throughout the day.

A particular highlight is the juggling stand, where both beginners and more experienced participants can learn new tricks and techniques from experienced performers during a workshop.

On the peninsula, visitors to Workout|side powered by BLACKROLL® can also look forward to exciting classes such as HIIT, running, Pilates and yoga, led by experienced trainers. Advance registration is required to take part.

On top:

Poets’ Day on 21 August

This is where creativity meets the art of words: with poetry slams, inspiring workshops and a hands-on writing workshop.
