Lou Bega live at Holiday on Ice in the Olympic Hall

15.01.2011 - Olympiapark München GmbH

Holiday on Ice is inspired by the hot sounds of mambo. This popular show on ice is currently touring Germany with the born entertainer Lou Bega. The stylish Latin pop singer, who has reached number 1 in the charts in over 20 countries with a total of 53 million records sold, will be inspiring the audience at all the performances of his new show, Tropicana, in Munich's Olympic Hall. His worldwide smash hit, “Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of …)” will certainly be on the playlist. Lou Bega will be performing these and other surprise hits from the 3rd to the 13th of February 2011 in Munich.

“I’m a very open-minded, keen-to-experiment type of person, and I’ve already done lots of crazy performances. I’ve played for princes and in palaces, and even got the sheikhs of the deserts' hips swaying. My repertoire still lacks a hot dance on a smooth-as-ice stage. I’m really excited and I’m really looking forward to working with Holiday on Ice, and I’ve already cleaned my dancing shoes,” says the “king of mambo”, Bega, who recently launched his catchy summer hit “Sweet like Cola”. Dreamily, he continues: “I’ve known about Holiday on Ice since I was a child. I’ve got the greatest respect for the ice dancers’ fantastic performances. And who knows? Maybe I might appear on the ice myself for one or two of my songs?”

Michael Duwe, Managing Director of Holiday on Ice in Germany, is also excited by Lou Bega's involvement. “Lou Bega is the perfect performer for Tropicana. He embodies the Latin American passion for life, and he brings fun and enjoyment - everything that Holiday on Ice stands for too. Unfortunately I’m not yet at liberty to tell you just how Lou Bega will be involved with the show.” With a smile, Duwe adds: “But one thing I can tell you is: we've been taking special precautions at Holiday on Ice to ensure that Lou Bega doesn’t cause the ice to melt with his hot rhythms!” Tropicana – the show for all the family  Tropicana takes the audience on a journey through America – from the pulsating streets of New York to the beaches of the Caribbean. The entertaining show is inspired by the best hits of superstar Barry Manilow: songs such as “Mandy” and “Copacabana” are incorporated into breathtaking performances in Tropicana by world-class ice dancers. What’s so unique is that Tropicana combines the spectacular acrobatics on the ice with optical illusions and stunning visual effects. This is all made possible by a special stage design – a giant LED screen with 25,000 lights, which creates a glittering world of dreams. Where does the smooth-as-ice stage end, and where does the projection begin? In all of Tropicana’s premieres, star guest Lou Bega will be whipping his audiences into a frenzy with his hot rhythms.
