Visitor centre opens for the new season on 19 March 2016

15.03.2016 - Olympiapark München GmbH

Adventures, thrills and fascinating experiences. Olympic Park visitors can look forward to an entertaining programme of tours. The exciting and entertaining tours through and “over” the Olympic Park offer it all - adventures, thrills, fascinating experiences and of course lots of interesting information about the Olympic Park’s almost 44-year history. Just in time for the Easter holidays - from 19 March 2016 - the visitor centre at Olympiapark München GmbH begins its new season. Even after 13 years, the marquee roof tour is still a huge hit on the Olympic Park's programme of activities! Daily at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., intrepid adventurers climb to the summit. The tour takes perfectly equipped visitors along the world-famous Plattenfeld up to a pylon. A must-do experience: the breathtaking panoramic view and fascinating architecture. There are of course also many other interesting things to experience in the Olympic Park. The version with a special twist: the marquee roof tour with abseiling (daily at 5 p.m.). After the marquee roof tour, the truly brave can then abseil from the edge of the stadium roof, some 40 metres up, down into the arena. The marquee roof tour with Flying Fox also offers a fascinating, high-up experience with subsequent flight on Europe’s longest zip wire (Thurs and Fri at 3:30 p.m., Sat and Sun at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). The sunset tour has been hugely popular in recent years and is now back on the programme. The “twilight” marquee roof tour starts from mid-May and runs daily at around 7 p.m. (varies depending on time of sunset). The public Architec-Tour, which is now offered once a month due to tremendous demand (first date 3rd April), has been running for just three years. The dates can be found at www.touren-olympiapark.de. To accommodate visitors’ wishes, the ever-popular Stadium Tour is also being offered twice a day (at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and three times a day (additionally at 4 p.m.) from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. Olympics, sporting events and rock and pop concerts - it's worth a peek behind the scenes. And of course plenty of time is also dedicated to the 33 years of football history. In the Bayern locker room, for example, you can take your place next to Oliver Kahn or Franz Beckenbauer (and have a photograph taken too!). The tour programme also includes the Olympic Lobby, which boasts an exciting exhibition with the World Cup (replica) and a match on a six-metre-long giant tabletop football machine. The Tour de Park (2 p.m.) shows off even more Olympic worlds. With the park railway, visitors are taken right the way across the Olympic Park to the Olympic Stadium, where many doors are opened - including, of course, the Olympic Lobby. And during the subsequent walk to the Olympic Hall and Olympic Swimming Pool, even more secrets will be uncovered. All tours are conducted either in German or English, and also in French on request. Individual appointments can be arranged for groups following prior registration. For the marquee roof tour (with and without Flying Fox) and the abseiling tour, early registration is strongly recommended! And don’t forget: the Flying Fox can also be booked outside of a tour. The flights right over the Olympic Stadium will also be starting just in time for the Easter holidays. Information about the tours available from Olympiapark München GmbH and to make reservations, pop in to the Visitor Centre in the Information Pavilion at the Olympic Ice Sports Centre, or tel. +49 (0)89/3067-2414 or -2415, fax +49 (0)89/3067-355-2414, e-mail besucherservice@olympiapark.de. All tours, including their prices and times, can be found at www.olympiapark.de. Free appointments can be viewed and booked directly at www.touren-olympiapark.de. There are also gift vouchers for roof tours, available directly from the Visitor Centre or at any Munich ticket pre-sales outlet (www.muenchenticket.de). And of course all of these options can also be organised for groups and companies, however only by prior arrangement. The outdoor team building and conferences and tours programmes are also available especially for this target group. Since 2015, the Olympic Park has also had the iChallenge Olympiapark feature for groups and corporate clients. The iChallenge in the Olympic Park is a high-tech scavenger hunt and is organised by the events agency spiel & sport Team GmbH from Krailling especially on behalf of companies for team events and incentives. The tours will last between two and three hours, but can also be adapted to the customer's preferences. In addition to the usual hiding places that have to be found with geo-caching, other tasks also have to be completed on this high-tech scavenger hunt: sometimes, the target is a hidden QR code that has to be scanned. Sometimes, there are questions that the teams must answer on their tour through the Olympic Park. Or sometimes the group has to demonstrate its creativity and arrange a special photograph with their iPad. After a brief introduction by the games masters, the team set off with their iPads on their tours, which can be between three and six kilometres long, depending on the route selected. This new attraction can also be booked via the Olympic Park's Visitor Centre.
