Fans have plenty to look forward to, as the German team will be playing their group stage matches in Munich this time, facing Serbia, Tunisia and Uruguay in Group A at the SAP Garden. The DHB team will play their World Cup opening match against Tunisia on 13 January. This will be followed by a match against Uruguay on 15 January and against Serbia on 17 January. The second group in Munich, headed by Croatia and featuring Spain, Chile and Turkey, will play their matches on 14 January, 16 January and 18 January. The exact kick-off times will be announced shortly.
As with the two previous tournaments, Munich 2027 is being organised by Munich Olympic Park GmbH in collaboration with the German Handball Federation (DHB). The atmosphere at the often sold-out matches during the last two tournaments at the Olympic Hall was already overwhelming. Whether at the 2019 World Championship with major teams such as Croatia and Spain, or at the 2024 European Championship with Iceland and Denmark.
Demand for tickets for the 2027 Handball World Championship is high. Currently, no tickets are available – with the exception of hospitality packages – for the German team’s group stage matches at the SAP Garden in Munich, or for the main round and the quarter-finals (provided Germany qualifies) in Cologne. There is also considerable interest outside the German group. So, if you want to experience the 2027 World Championship live, you shouldn’t wait too long.
Alongside the matches in Munich, the group stage matches for the two groups will also take place in Stuttgart from 13 to 18 January. Staggered by one day – from 14 to 19 January – the six match days for the two groups will be held in Kiel and Magdeburg. The top three teams from each of the eight group stage groups will progress to the main round.
If everything goes to plan for the DHB squad, the team could write the first chapter of a successful tournament at the Olympic Park, and with it, another winter fairy tale.
