Where the Street League and X Games once held events and ice skates glided across the ice for decades, skateboards and bikes were in action until early May: over the winter months, a temporary mini-ramp was set up in the former Olympic ice rink, serving as a new meeting place for Munich’s skateboarding and BMX scene.

The project provided the Munich community with an indoor option for transition riders. For just €2.50 per session, the ramp was open to everyone and was complemented by a varied programme of workshops: from beginner’s courses for children and sessions for adults to special girls-only events in partnership with the Girls Rule Project, which offered women and girls a safe space to try things out and share experiences.

Even outside of daily operations, visitors could look forward to numerous highlights: various skate and BMX events were planned throughout the winter – including contests, jams and community meet-ups.

The skate and BMX programme was funded by the Department of Education and Sport of the City of Munich.
