The success story began in 2005 when Nickelodeon broadcast the first of 61 episodes of the series ‘Avatar: Lord of the Elements’ with ‘The Boy in the Iceberg’ - the story of twelve-year-old Aang, who, together with his comrades-in-arms, wants to end the Fire Nation's 100-year war with the rest of the world and restore balance to the world. The series attracted millions of viewers worldwide, and several bestselling book projects have emerged from it. The graphic novel series sold almost three million copies, while the young adult novels spent more than 25 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. In addition, computer and video games were created for the most popular consoles.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the series, ‘Avatar: Lord of the Elements’ is going on tour as a live concert. Supplemented by new artistic elements, scenes from all three seasons will be shown on a large screen. A live orchestra will play the film music by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman in synchronisation, with strings and woodwinds as well as taiko drums and Chinese erhus, the traditional two-stringed instruments. A thrilling experience for long-time Avatar fans and newcomers alike.
