René Peter Baumann - his real name - began his DJ career in his teenage years in Aarau and Lucerne. In the early 1990s, he became the resident DJ at Oxa in Zurich, one of the country's most renowned techno clubs. He celebrated his first major commercial success in 1993 with his debut album ‘Dance With Me’; the singles ‘Somebody Dance With Me’, ‘Keep On Dancing’, ‘Take Control’ and ‘Everybody’ were among the biggest hits of his early years. In 1996, he released his best-selling longplayer to date, ‘World in Motion’, which reached number 3 in Germany.
Even back then, his live performances were unique, where, in his own words, he wanted to ‘turn every hall into one huge dance party’. The fact that DJ BoBo's concerts are a rousing spectacle is something the audience in the Olympiahalle has experienced time and again, when he once took to the stage with a 32-metre-long pirate ship, arrived with flying vampires or whisked them away to enchanting fantasy worlds on his KaleidoLuna tour. For ‘The Great Adventure’, the singer, composer and producer is also announcing a new dimension in live entertainment with breathtaking costumes and a spectacular stage set.
