Whether they are despised or loved: Frei.Wild are undoubtedly one of the most successful German-speaking bands. The South Tyrolean band has reached number one in the German album charts with a total of seven albums. In May 2025, the band released ‘Immer unter Feuer’, the first single from the album of the same name, with which Frei.Wild will go on tour in 2026. ‘A fire full of power, emotion and hope,’ writes the organiser in the announcement. "A powerful mix of hard German rock and goosebump ballads. Songs and stories that encourage, overcome boundaries and build bridges." The tour will take in twelve cities, with the band making a guest appearance in the Olympic Hall on 30 May 2026.
Critics repeatedly accused the band of playing with imagery and quotes from the Nazi era. Frontman Philipp Burger's neo-Nazi past as a skinhead and singer in the right-wing rock band ‘Kaiserjäger’ was a particular source of controversy. Burger himself repeatedly distanced himself resolutely from those teenage years, especially in his autobiography ‘Freiheit mit Narben - Mein Weg von rechts nach überall’ (Freedom with Scars - My Path from the Right to Everywhere), published in 2023. In the same year, the band released the song ‘Nie wieder’ (Never Again), positioning itself against anti-Semitism.
The Olympic Park Munich GmbH distances itself from anti-Semitic, historically revisionist, racist or right-wing extremist statements - regardless of when they were or are made.
