Born in Turin in 1955, Ludovico Einaudi comes from an influential family. His grandfather Luigi was the country's president from 1948 to 1955 after the Second World War, while his father Giulio was the founder and owner of a large publishing house in Turin. His mother, an amateur pianist, instilled in him a love of music. After studying at the conservatories in Turin and Milan, he first came into contact with the minimalism of American neoclassical music at the renowned Tanglewood Music Festival in Massachussetts.
Einaudi caused a sensation in the piano world in 1996 with his first solo album "Le Onde", followed by further phenomenal releases such as "Eden Roc" (1999), "I giorni" (2001) and "Diario Mali" (2003), a tribute to the music of Africa. The artist has also made a name for himself as a composer of film scores, whether for the remake of "Doctor Zhivago" (2002), the French tragicomedy "Pretty Best Friends" (2011) or the drama "Nomadland" (2020), which won three Oscars. Einaudi, who has already played to sold-out audiences at La Scala in Milan and London's Royal Albert Hall, will be performing music from his creative period in the Olympic Hall on 23 February 2025.
