One of them is the undisputed record-holder with 21 number-one albums in the German charts and, having sold more than 50 million records, is one of the most influential figures in the music industry of recent decades. The other, with gold and platinum albums and sold-out arena concerts, is one of the most successful German pop artists of his generation. Peter Maffay and Johannes Oerding are now going on tour with their first joint album.

The two first met during Peter Maffay’s MTV Unplugged tour, and they crossed paths time and again after that. For instance, on their duet “Wenn wir uns wiedersehen” or during Maffay’s farewell tour in 2024, which Oerding joined. They’d never planned to record an entire album together, let alone go on tour. But life is full of surprises – and things often turn out differently than expected.

As they got to know each other better and discovered their shared love of country rock and rhythm and blues, they initially recorded a few demos – until they flew to Nashville in 2025 to record the eleven songs for their album in just five days at the legendary Blackbird Studio. The obvious title for the album: “Nashville”. They gave fans a first taste at the end of June with the lead single “Ein Leben lang ist nicht lang” (A lifetime isn’t long), as a reminder that time is finite and precious. And that you should enjoy the moments for as long as you can.

The two artists are now set to go on tour together in April 2027. Peter Maffay is adding yet another concert to his long run of almost 20 performances at the Olympiahalle. Will this be his last one this time? With him, you never know.
