Growing up in the Canadian province of Quebec, he first heard a Queen song in the 1990s: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, in the legendary sequence from the film ‘Wayne's World’. When Marc Martel was on tour with his band Downhere in the noughties, fans kept telling him how similar his voice was to Freddie Mercury's. The big turning point in his life came in 2011 when he heard about an appeal from the remaining Queen members, who were looking for a vocal double for their lead singer, who died in 1991, for a tribute show. Martel recorded his interpretations of Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody To Love, thrilling not only millions of fans worldwide but also Roger Taylor and Brian May. After his shows ‘The Queen Extravaganza’ and ‘The Ultimate Queen Experience’, he sang some of the songs for lead actor Rami Malek in the 2019 film tribute to Freddie, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – and then went on to even greater success with his new show ‘One Vision of Queen’ in 2020.
After 2023, 2024 and 2025, Martel will return to the Olympic Hall in 2027 with all the great Queen songs from ‘Love of My Life’ to ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ to ‘We Will Rock You’.
