Born in Bad Cannstadt in 1981, Özcan Cosar began breakdancing at the age of twelve. With his crew ‘United B-Boys’, he took part in many national and international tournaments and won numerous titles, becoming German champion in 2000. Cosar, whose parents immigrated from Turkey in the 1970s, began appearing more and more frequently as a presenter at a wide variety of events. In 2008, Özcan Cosar finally made his debut as a stand-up comedian at the trendy Stuttgart venue ‘Corso Bar’, followed shortly afterwards by the premiere of his first comedy show ‘2guys1stage’ at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Finally, in 2012, he presented his first solo show entitled ‘Adam & Erdal’. Over the years, he has won numerous awards, from the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Award in 2013 to the German Comedy Award in 2019 in the category ‘Best Newcomer’.
In his new programme ‘VIP’, Özcan Cosar now explores the question of whether the abbreviation really stands for ‘Very Important Person’ or rather for ‘Very Irritating Celebrity’, and how absurd things can sometimes look behind the façade of glamour and red carpets. And above all, whether the true heroes and heroines of everyday life are not nurses, parcel delivery drivers, emergency doctors and educators after all.
