PUBLIC VIEWING

WM 2014 public screening

The World Cup kicks off in Brazil on 12 June. And one thing is clear. When it comes to public viewing at a major football festival, there is really only one location in Munich where people can get together to cheer on their teams and keep their fingers crossed: the Olympic Stadium.

We will be showing all of the German team's matches! The schedule includes the preliminary round matches on 16 June between Germany and Portugal, on 21 June against Ghana and on 26 June against the USA. We also plan to broadcast the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final – but only if Germany is involved.  And that's how it will be in June for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

After 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and the Champions League final on 19 May 2012, Munich will once again be the venue for the ultimate football TV experience in the Olympic Park. The programme includes the preliminary round matches on 16 June between Germany and Portugal (6 p.m.), on 21 June against Ghana (9 p.m.) and on 26 June against the USA (6 p.m.). There are also plans to broadcast the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final – but only if Germany is involved.

Advance ticket sales for the big public viewing event have already begun. The stadium gates will open two hours before kick-off. From then on, 23,000 fans will be able to take their seats in the covered main stand, while a further 9,000 spectators can cheer on their team in the arena in front of the 140 m² video wall. This ensures the best possible view and, of course, the right atmosphere. This time, the team from Radio Gong 96.3 will be providing the entertainment. About 45 minutes before kick-off, the broadcast will switch to the TV stations' pre-match coverage.
