When Rush released their first album in early 1974, Willy Brandt was still Chancellor of Germany and Franz Beckenbauer was on his way to winning his first European Cup title with FC Bayern Munich. In their Canadian homeland, the trio consisting of Alex Lifeson, singer, bassist and keyboardist Geddy Lee, and drummer Neil Peart reached number one in the charts with ‘Moving Pictures’ (1981) and ‘Signals’ (1982). The band was nominated for a Grammy seven times and won six Juno Awards, including Band of the Year (1978 and 1979) and Best Hard Rock Album (1992) for Roll the Bones.
In 2010, Rush was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2013 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2018, six years after their last studio album ‘Clockwork Angels’, it was supposed to be the end. But now Lee and Lifeson have decided to embark on a major comeback tour – partly because of the tragic death of Neil Peart, who died of an incurable brain tumour in January 2020. After their concert tour through Canada, the USA and Mexico in 2026, Rush will now come to Europe in 2027 to present their greatest hits from more than five decades in a tribute to their late friend.
