14.11.2018 - Olympiapark München GmbH

In the architecture competition for the new sports arena, which has been running since the start of this year, the prize committee awarded a first and second prize on the 13th of November 2018. Eight architects' office teams submitted their entries, with 3XN Copenhagen with Latz + Partner taking first prize for the landscape planning and the second prize going to gmp, Hamburg with Ulrich Krüger Landscape Architects. One of the two designs will be turned into reality. Red Bull Stadion München GmbH launched the international competition at the start of August 2018 in association with the State Capital of Munich.  The site of the former Olympic Velodrome in Munich's Olympic Park is to be transformed into a multi-functional sports arena with 11,000 spectator seats and three further ice sports areas for training and popular sports. For the construction and operation phase, the plans from the first and second prize winners will now be checked over and compared by the partners Red Bull, FC Bayern Munich and SAP. Red Bull will notify the City of Munich of the outcome of the detailed work in a few weeks' time and ask the Town Council to give the green light for the construction of the new arena.
