‘It is always a great pleasure for me to be the patron of the summer festival. The programme is colourful and varied, and there is plenty to experience – for all Munich residents and guests from all over the world, young and old alike,’ says Mayor Verena Dietl.
From Friday, 1 August to Sunday, 24 August, visitors can look forward to 24 days of entertainment that leaves nothing to be desired. Munich's showmen will be there with their rides, the Budenstraße invites visitors to stroll and browse, and the food stalls offer culinary delicacies from all over the world. Highlights include themed weekends on Bavaria & culture, gaming & kids, self-made & arts and crafts, and body & mind. New to the summer festival programme is the Treasure Hunt, a flea market where influencers from the worlds of fashion, lifestyle, fitness and entertainment will be selling their personal treasures in the Olympic Hall (east entrance) on 16 August – after-party included.
"At our summer festival, our park shows its versatile side, as it does at all our Olympic Park events. There is something to discover and experience in almost every corner of the grounds. The “Kleine Wiesn” (Little Oktoberfest), as the summer festival was once called many years ago, is the perfect holiday programme. We look forward to welcoming all Munich residents and tourists who visit us in the park until 24 August and spend varied and eventful days here," says Olympic Park director Marion Schöne.
The Kinderland is a real paradise for young summer festival guests: every day, creative craft stations and a colourful selection of play equipment invite children to explore and romp around on the roof of the Small Olympic Hall.
On 13 August, a large fireworks display will light up the sky above the Olympic Lake. Last but not least, the ‘Bar du Soleil’ on the Olympic Lake attracts visitors with cool drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.
The summer festival is open Monday to Thursday from 12 noon to 11 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Olympic Park event is framed by the Theatron Music Summer (1 to 24 August) and the two-week holiday programme ‘Kunst & Krempel’ (Art & Junk) with workshops and studios for young creative minds (1 to 17 August).
