Top athletes from all over the world, along with the exciting MASH Fest featuring new attractions, will offer fans plenty of action, excitement and lifestyle experiences. A few places are still up for grabs, but many participants have already been confirmed.
A new challenge for the skaters: the vert is back
The vert is returning to the Olympic Park. As at the 2013 X Games, the halfpipe will be set up on a platform in the Olympic Lake, in front of the grass terraces. The four-metre-high and 19-metre-wide vert is guaranteed to deliver spectacular tricks and plenty of airtime. Among the competitors is Tyler Edtmayer from Lenggries, who secured the silver medal in the final run of the thrilling skateboard final at MASH in 2025. He will be up against the likes of Collin Graham (USA) and Alessandro Mazzara (ITA), amongst others. Viktor Solmunde will also be part of the line-up. He represented Denmark at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and shone last year by winning a bronze medal at the Park World Championships.
BMX riders take on the jump line
This year, seven of the best BMX riders will be showcasing their skills on the 80-metre-long jump line at Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Square This has been a feature of MASH before: in 2019 at the Olympiasee. Starting from the eight-metre-high roll-in, the aim is to find the right flow over the challenging obstacles, pull off the best tricks and get the timing just right. The line-up includes, amongst others, Paul Thölen from Cologne, who won the team contest in 2025 alongside Dean Florian (GER) and Jude Jones (GBR). Then there’s Lars Kindermann from Hattingen, one of the most promising young riders on the German BMX scene. Known for his laid-back style and creative lines, Jason Watts is travelling to Munich from Brisbane.
The return of the mountain bikers
This year, the professional mountain bikers are celebrating an action-packed revival at MASH! They were last part of the MASH sports programme from 2014 to 2016 with the Swatch Prime Line slopestyle contest. In 2026, a total of seven athletes will be competing. Like the BMX riders, they too will be flying over the jump line on Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Square. Among those taking part is Lennox Zimmermann, who thrilled the Munich crowd as an 11-year-old BMX prodigy – albeit outside the competition back then. He has since switched to a larger mountain bike and will be competing against his compatriots Erik Fedko and Tobey Miley, as well as the Austrian Bernd Winkler, amongst others. And here’s another tip: the bikers – MTB and BMX – will be competing together in the Best Trick Contest on MASH Sunday.
The wakeboarders’ best tricks on the giant kicker
This year, 13 men and six women will be putting on thrilling runs on a new, challenging set-up on the Olympic Lake. In the women’s event, the line up includes last year’s winner Claudia Pagnini (ITA), as well as Katinka Buiting (NED), who won the silver medal in 2025, and third-placed Campbell Scarborough (USA). American Rivers Hedrick is also back in action at the Olympic Lake. In the men’s event, the question remains: who will win the brothers’ duel? Last year, it was Trent who relegated his brother Gavin to second place. But perhaps someone else will win. For example, last year’s third-placed finisher, the Briton Joe Battleday (GBR). But the German competitors, such as Nico von Lerchenfeld (Cologne), who won last year’s team competition with Liam Peacock (GBR), or Dominik Gührs (Munich) and Felix Georgii (Kranzegg), will also be giving it their all. Alongside the ‘classic’ competitions, there’s also a Best Trick Contest this year – taking place on a kicker specially designed for MASH, the size of which is sure to present a challenge of a very special kind – as there isn’t a bigger kicker anywhere at the moment.
Red Bull Dance Your Style Qualifier x MASH
Red Bull Dance Your Style is coming to Munich – and bringing one of the decisive qualifiers of this year’s German tour straight to the Olympiapark. The street dance event is all about pure improvisation, energy and the crowd’s vibe. Whether it’s hip-hop, house, locking, popping or voguing – every style is allowed. In spontaneous one-on-one battles, the dancers must prove themselves to randomly selected songs, without any prepared choreography. It’s the audience alone who decide who progresses to the next round. The highlight of the tour is the National Final in Hamburg on 2 August; the final and decisive stop on the qualifier tour takes place at MASH. Here, 16 talented dancers from all over Germany will have the chance to showcase their skills at the Theatron against the unique backdrop of the Olympic Park and qualify for the National Final.
The MASH Fest
Preparations for the colourful and interactive MASH Fest are in full swing. Once again, it will be at the heart of the action sports festival, offering music, art, culture and interaction. This is where the scene comes alive – vibrant, exhilarating, inclusive and brimming with ideas. A laid-back chill-out area invites you to linger and relax, whilst a wide range of activities such as skateboarding, dance and graffiti workshops promise wonderful experiences. From a varied culinary offering and musical entertainment to artistic performances, there is something to delight all the senses. The MASH Fest, with MASH Square (entrance to the Olympiahalle Ost), is a hub of cultural diversity featuring music, art and design, infotainment and interaction. And there’ll be no shortage of that either – the after-party on Saturday evening.
