To mark its anniversary, the Munich RoadRunners Club (MRRC) is opening up the field of participants to up to 4,000 runners for the first time. Last year, the approximately 3,000 starting places were once again fully booked ahead of time. The huge interest shows how firmly established the New Year's Eve run is in Munich's running scene.
From the 500-metre children's run to the two-kilometre schoolchildren's run to the five-kilometre run and ten-kilometre road and fun run, there is something for every age and ability group. The ten-kilometre run is officially measured and eligible for the rankings, making it particularly attractive for ambitious runners.
The Munich Community Clash Championship is also back on the programme: in this special competition, the three fastest runners from a Munich running club or community compete in a ten-kilometre race. The team with the lowest combined net time is crowned the winner – a competition that combines team spirit, speed and Munich's running scene.
This year, Jürgen Sonneck, head of the Munich Sports Office, will send the runners on their way. Peter Maisenbacher and his daughter Maresa Bredl will host the event. The Feldmochinger Böllerschützen will once again provide impressive starting shots in 2025.
At the finish line, all participants will receive the legendary New Year's Eve running mug, which can traditionally be filled with tea or water. In addition, an anniversary medal and a limited edition running shirt commemorating the 40th anniversary can also be ordered this year.
The distribution of race numbers will begin at 9:30 a.m. The races will take place between 11:00 am and 14:00 pm.
Race numbers will be distributed and the award ceremonies will take place around the Small Olympic Hall, which will serve as the central event venue this year. As usual, the races themselves will take place in the winter Olympic Park, with the start and finish lines located in the immediate vicinity of the hall.
