He had his first major hit 50 years ago; in the autumn of 1976, he reached number 14 in the German singles chart with “Frei, das heißt allein” – a cover version of the Italian hit “Verde” – and thus made his first appearance on Dieter Thomas Heck’s legendary ZDF Hitparade. “Sieben Fässer Wein” propelled Roland Kaiser into the top ten the following year, and the West Berlin-based pop singer celebrated his first number one in 1980 with “Santa Maria”, a cover of the song by the Italo-pop duo of the same name, Oliver Onions.
Kaiser went on to produce many more hit songs and albums in the decades that followed; in 2022, he once again landed a number one album with “Perspektiven”, exactly 41 years after he first topped the album charts with “Dich zu lieben”. His live performances have always been a spectacular affair, above all the regularly sold-out Kaisermania in Dresden, which has been an open-air institution since 2003 as part of the “Filmnächte am Elbufer” cinema festival. But his indoor shows are also characterised by performances brimming with energy and emotion.
Following his last performance to date in 2025, Kaiser is now returning to the Olympic Hall in 2027. With old classics and new songs.
